The Meat Pie Tri was a nice little sprint triathlon that took place in Natchitoches, LA. It included an 800 m open water swim, a 20 mile bike ride with rolling hills, and a 5k run. My goal for this race was to treat it as if there was no run. That’s exactly what I did. I rode my bike as fast as I could.
I ended up riding faster than I ever have for a 20 mile split and had the fastest bike split time overall. I placed 32nd overall and 4th in my age group. The results are below.
The CF Cycle for Life took place in St. Francisville, LA and was a great success raising over $60,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF). Thank You to all who volunteered, organized, or attended!
This ride, a national CFF event, was partly inspired by my roommate and best friend David Tarnow. He is a CF patient and for the past seven years has done cycling events to raise money and awareness about Cystic Fibrosis. Through his continued efforts he has kept himself healthy and helped raise over $100,000 for the foundation.
This year was the first year that the CFF took on the task of putting on a national ride with various rides in states with local offices. Dave and I worked on the committee helping to put on the ride this year. The ride went very well and had over 60 riders raising about $62,000 for the Baton Rouge CF office.
